Alison has over 30 years of clinical experience with 15 years practicing aquatic physical therapy. She has completed aquatic research, presented internationally and is the Aquatic Physical Therapy International representative for Canada.

FEATURED CARI MEMBER: Tanya Salwach, Alberta. Tanya Salwach-Hoffert operates ‘Bear Foot Health’ in Alberta. Tanya has completed training in Reflexology, Traditional Thai Massage, Yoga, Aquatic Therapy, WATSU® , WaterDance and is a Triple P Positive Parenting Practitioner. She has been practicing for 16 years in a therapy pool working with complex care clients. Her community practice includes group Adult and Kids Aquatic Therapy sessions for Cerebral Palsy Alberta. Recently, Tanya developed and piloted a program for Lifeguards and Aquatic staff called “Understanding Disability in the Aquatic Environment”. The pilot training in Cochrane resulted in outstanding feedback from Staff and the community. In 2025, she will present at the Alberta Association of Aquatic Professionals, AAAP, Conference and the Life Saving Society of AB/NWT about the need and success of this Disability Awareness Training and advocating for more public therapy pools. A national launch is in the future. Tanya actively advocates in surrounding communities for equiptable access to aquatic therapy. She is working toward the creation of The Healing Waters Foundation, a non-profit charity, whose mandate will be to raise funds for access to aquatic therapeutic treatment and specialized equipment for any persons who would benefit but are unable to afford this service.
